On January 17th, moombahton comes home and boldly displays how far it has progressed since Dave Nada’s moment of inspiration gave birth to the new sound with the release of a genre-defining new compilation, Moombahton Forever.
It was back in March 2010 when Jesse Tittsworth and DJ Ayres’ T&A Records released Moombahton by Dave Nada, a track described at the time by The Fader as “essentially Dutch house screwed down to sound like reggaeton’s weird little cousin.” Since then, moombahton has grown and evolved to become a global phenomenon, one deserving of a compilation with the size, depth and scope of Moombahton Forever. 21 tracks which span a group of artists who have developed a sound into a vibe; a genre that has stayed true to its original ideal while enabling producers to bring their own personal yet crowd-pleasing interpretations.
T&A co-owner DJ Ayres says of the compilation: “All the major players in the genre have brought their A-game on Moombahton Forever, which showcases the sheer scope of the sound: from originators Nadastrom, Sabo and Munchi to early adopters Heartbreak, Tittsworth, Ayres, Sazon Booya, Pickster & Melo to other established producers who’ve embraced it, like Craze, GTA, Bro Safari, Dillon Francis and DJ Yoda. Everything that defines the sound is there: wild Dutch house riffs, huge buildups, reggaeton rhythms, tough moombahcore, deep vibes, weird experimentalism, and even a tempo tool from Moombahton to house. A lot of people still ask what moombahton is – Moombahton Forever finally gives the definitive answer.”
Genre inventor and one half of Nadastrom, Dave Nada had this to say about Moombahton Forever:
“People always ask me, ‘So how does it feel to have invented a genre?’ and I usually tell them ‘Well, it feels good to be a part of something.’ Moombahton may have started off with me making DJ edits of slowed-down house music to sound like a weird version of reggaeton, but it took a worldwide collective to turn it into a full fledged movement. It’s been a little over three years since moombahton’s inception and I can’t even begin to describe how big the sound has grown and how far it has travelled. Moombahton has infiltrated damn near every music scene across the globe, absorbing their backgrounds and creating a vibe of its own. It still has the dembow riddim as its backbone and remains at a mid-tempo range of about 108 beats per minute – but moombahton music has grown far beyond that, and not just in sound. Over the years I’ve been able to watch moombahton bridge different worlds, transcending cultural boundaries, all in the name of the groove. Producers, DJs and music lovers alike have pushed the sound in their own way, and I’ve had the privilege of helping steer the moombah-ship in a fun and interesting direction. With the help of the genre’s innovators, T&A Records bring you Moombahton Forever. This compilation is a reflection of where the sound is today and how far it has come. I’m excited to see where moombahton will take us next!”
This Swing Break Jump Off was one of my favorite Moombahton tunes to come out last year. Kinda changed the game in my opinion. I made this ODB edit so I can play it in the clubs, and it wen’t over well everytime I’ve played it. Figured I might as well share. Be sure to Buy the whole McMash Clan “Swing Break” EP it’s quality.

Trap = Hip-Hop in 2013. Love it or hate it. We personally love it and are thankful that we can now play a Hip-Hop sounding song at a peak time at an EDM event, and people love it. On this one we decided to add a little classic hip-hop flavor to some Nu-Skool EDM Trap and came up with this tune. “Laced Up”. A tune sure to make your head nod cause your neck knows its fat. Ask Mad Skills…

This one is strictly for my working club DJ’s and my Moombahsoul peeps. I’ve been a long time supporter of this tune for many years. It still works every time. but now I have a club friendly Moombahton version to mix into my sets. I left this Little Acapella intro outro version on there to help make the mix easy. Big ups to all my Moombahton Fam, Supporters, and people looking out for my music.
